James (fdr's dad) was a land owner and a businessman witch was concideribally wealthy but not awosem wealth from New york. He was a democratic. Sara(FDR's mom) was one of the 5 Delano sisters. She was notable both for her aristocratic manner and her independent streak..franklin spent most of his younger life by Hyde park witch was 50 miles away from new york. He was home schooled and had limited time with his peers. he had a great family life. he was an only child. Sara used all of her energy raising franklin. when he was 14 he was sent to Groton school the first real school out oh his ome. this school was a privit school mainly for the wealthy.
