Week of January 23rd - 27th

Monday, January 23rd

We discussed TPP, which stands for Trans Pacific Partnership. One of its benefits include cheaper goods, but it causes manufacturing job losses. Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, and Hillary Clinton all disagreed with TPP. It was never signed due to the jobs being taken jobs overseas. We also briefly discussed NAFTA, an acronym for North. American. Free. Trade. Agreement as well as GPD, which stands for Gross. Domestic. Products. GPD is the total amount of service and goods produced in year. Lastly, we defined bipartisan, which means both or all political parties.

Tuesday, January 24th

We started the “Politics Unit” and assigned political systems to present. Each project needs a book definition, a student friendly definition, and examples of the systems used currently or in the past. You will also need to act out your government system, making the presentation worth 20 points.

Wednesday, January 25th

We spoke about Donald Trump’s voter fraud accusation and his views on Sanctuary Cities. These cities protect and provide illegal immigrants with supplies. We also briefly discussed Dow Jones, which is a price-weighted average of the 30 largest companies in the United States. For the rest of the class, we worked on our government system projects.

Thursday, January 26th

We discussed Donald Trump’s wall and the Mexican President’s view on it. We continued working on the political and economic system projects. We will begin presenting tomorrow.

Friday, January 27th

The class started by practicing the north eastern European countries and capitals. We also began presenting the political and economic system projects.
