Week of January 16th - 20th

Monday, January 16th

Professional Development Day

No School

Tuesday, January 17th

“Snow Day”

No School

Wednesday, January 18th

We completed labeling the European countries and capitals. In class, we talked about who Obama pardoned, which was a transgender woman who released private information to Wikileaks. Then, we discussed Donald Trump’s views on hispanics and cleared up his misheard comment on Mexican immigrants. He didn’t mean to say all Mexicans were rapists or criminals instead, he meant some.

Thursday, January 19th

We spoke about three more minority groups; women, African Americans, and Arabs. Although, we only spoke briefly about the awful comments Donald Trump made about women. Like in many past elections, African Americans tend to vote democratic. It also seems they don’t like Trump because after asking them to vote for him he added, “What else do you have to lose.” Once again, he meant Democrats promise to decrease the rate of high school dropouts and crime rates, but never keep it. Next we spoke about the difference between Muslims and Islam.  Muslims are people who practice Islam which is a religion, but it is not a race. Many Muslims are anti-Trump because Trump doesn't want people from the middle east to come without a major background check and identification. Even though Islam promotes peace, he still believes it’s a war tactic. We also briefly discussed Mike Pence’s approval on Conversion Therapy for teenagers in the LGBT+ community. At the end of class, we spoke about the Obama’s greatest accomplishments.

Friday, January 20th

Today, we managed to watch the introduction of Donald Trump’s inauguration. We didn’t get to see his speech and many others.
