The New Frontier

The New Frontier

The New Frontier was John F. Kennedy’s plan. He mentioned this New Frontier in his acceptance speech. Kennedys plan, or his goals of The New Frontier were to boost the economy and get them out of the economic slump they were in. In Kennedy’s acceptance speech he talks about facing the west, the old frontier where people wanted to make a difference so they gave up everything they had just for this common cause. They were determined to fight off all their struggles, and some believed that they had. Kennedy didn’t believe all struggles had passed and all enemies were fought off, he wanted to stand on a new frontier.

The frontier of the 1960s is the frontier in which Kennedy believed in. This was his idea. He saw this frontier to be full of unknown opportunities and perils. It would have unfulfilled hopes and threats. Kennedy states that The New Frontier was not a set of promises it was a set of challenges. The Frontier is not what he intend to offer the American people, but what he intend to ask of them. It appealed to their pride, not to their pocketbook. It held out the promise of more sacrifice instead of more security.

To sum things up, I believe The New Frontier was an economy booster. I thought that Kennedy’s acceptance speech was very inspiring and more towards a positive note for the people of this time. Though many people thought they had fought through all their battles Kennedy knew different and came up with this New Frontier!
