This was a title of a abolitionist newspaper. An abolitionist was a movement to try to end slavery. The newspaper was created by William Lloyd Garrison in 1831. It had weekly issues in the town of Boston for a continuous 35 years. The first issue was published on January 1 of 1835 and the last was published on January 1 of 1866.
The newspaper was a national know for it campaign to immediately and completely emancipate all slaves.He announced what the newspaper was going to be about in the first issue with his famous open letter "To the Public".This newspaper did not go over so well in several states. North Carolina charged Garrison with felonious acts and South Carolina offered a 1500 dollar reward for the exposer of the distributor of the paper.
The Liberator went all the way through the ending of the American Civil War. It ended when the 13th Amendment was passed to end slavery in the U.S.
