The indian reorganization act was also know as the Wheeler Howard Act or the Indian New Deal. It helped secure different rights to Native Americans. This act didnt make the tribes adopt a constitution.. But, if a tribe wanted to the constitution had to:1. allow the tribal council to employ legal counsel.2.Prohibit the tribal council from engaging any land transitions without majority aprobal of the tribe.3. authorize the tribal council to negotiate with the federal, state, and local governments.some of these restrictions were taken away by the Native American Technical Corrections Act of 2003.This act slowed down the assigning of tribal lands to seperate tribal members. It was passed in 1934. The main point of tthis was to secure new rights for native americans. It was a U.S. federal legislation that secured certain rights for native Americans. This act is still in effect and many native americans question the purpose its supposed to have.It gave the U.S. permission to restore the indion nations or land. Some of this land was lost all the way back in 1887.The indians definately got rights that made up for the way they had been treated before this.I think this act helped a lot with connecting US with indians. We started to share land and they started to fight in wars with us. WW1. The US needed a relationship with the indians otherwise they could have started a war with them. That would have been bad for the land itself.Sources:http://www.infoplease.com/ce6/history/A0825118.htmlhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Reorganization_Act
