In the Great Society many acts were passed that effected education. One of the main acts passed was the Elementary and Secondary Education Act which was passed in 1965. This act help end a long debt in politics about provideing more finical aid for public schools and education. At the beguinging it had more then 1 billion dollars set aside to help buy materails. Also this money went to start specail education programs. These programs were only started in areas where there was a high population of low-income familys.Along with starting specail ed programs it also started Head Start which was originally just an 8 week program during the summer, but now is a permanent program.
Another act that was passed was the Higher Education Act of 1965. This act was to increase the amount federal money given univertisies. Some on the money also created scholarships and loans. Also it help established the National Teachers Corps. The corps made sure that teachers were provieded to low income areas in the US.
The final act that was passed was the Bilingual Education Act of 1968. It offered local schools with federal aid to assist childern with difficulty speaking and understanding english. It expired in 2002.
