Me,Chelsea, Amanda, and Whitney watched this movie. It stated out that this family was moving because the dad was a soldier. This little boy, Bruno, didnt want to move because he was leaving his friends. They got to there house and Bruno started exploring, but there yard was very small because it was fenced in. Bruno was not allowed to go in the back yard. He wanted to build a tire swing so a slave went in the back yard with him and picked out a tire. Bruno saw a window that he could crawl through to explore more.
He waited until his mom left and he went in the back yard and through the window and he started running though the woods. He came to a fence and he saw a little boy sitting on the other side. They started talking and soon they became friends. The little boys name was Shmuel and he told Bruno to come back.
Bruno came back and sometimes he brought food and sometimes he brought games. One day Shmuel was in Bruno's house and he was cleaning glass. Bruno saw and he brought Shmuel some food. A soldier walked by and saw that he had food. He asked Bruno if they were friends and if he had given him the food. Bruno was scared and said that he didnt know that boy.
Bruno went back and saw that Shmuel had got beaten. He was very sorry and he still wanted them to be friends. He was jealous that he didnt get to wear striped pajamas like Shmuel did. Bruno wanted to go on the other side of the fence and be with Shmuel. He went home and learned that they were moving again. He didnt want to go. He asked his mom if he could go play outside one more time. She said ok and he went and got a shovel and ran to Shmuel. When he got there he took off his clothes and put the pajamas on. He dug a hole and crawled under the fence.
Back at his house everyone was looking for Bruno but they couldnt find him. The mom went in the back and saw the open window that he had crawled through. She got the soldiers and they went looking for him.
At the camp all the Jews were being taken to get a 'shower'. Bruno and Shmuel didnt know what was going on. They were told to take off their clothes and get into this room. When they were in there these little rock things were put into a hole and it turned into gas and they all died.
The dad and soldiers saw the hole that Bruno had dug and he went running into the camp and he saw that Bruno was dead. The mom came a little later and saw the hole as well and she started crying.
I loved this movie. It tought me a lot about what they did in the concentration camps. I never knew that they beat the workers that worked in the house so much. I think it is terrible the things that they did to those people. I could never imagine surviving that, but a lot of people did.
