The Agricultural Adjustment Act

This was an act pasted by Franklin D. Roosevelt during a time period called the New Deal. The goals of this time were to relieve the farmers, reform businesses, and recover from the bad economy during the Great Depression. Some historians called it the 3 Rs plan.

The Act was to make farmers to reduce their crop production by paying them for the amount of crops they reduced. This was put into play to raise the value of crops so farmers got more out of the plants that they produced.

The Act produced a new business called the Agriculture Adjustment Administration. It made sure that each farmer was payed the same amount of money. It was also know as the first US farm bill. Many farmers did not like the plan but had to take up the offer to survive. They did not like the idea of letting their fields set empty.Source OneSource Two
