Taliban or "Students of Islamic Knowledge Movement" Came to power durring the civil war in Afghanistan. They ruled from 1996- 2001. Managed to hold 90% f the country. Taliban was one of the holy warriors that formed in 1979- 1989. The leader was Mullah Mohammed Omar.
They were overthrown by an American-led invasion. The Taliban outlawed the education of women. In 2004 they started to rise in power again. They also have a Taliban burn school in Afghanistan.
