Takeo Yoshikawa was an informant spy of activity going on in Pearl Harbor before Japan attacked. Takeo arrived in March 27, 1941 on the islands. He became a spy because of a stomach allignment problem and could not be in field combat.
Takeo informed the Japenese Military of alot of things. He would often wander the island looking for military training movements. Along the harbor, he took notes of every day training, movement of certain days where ships would be located, and when the aircore did there training. Bernard Kuehn was a German agent on the island that worked closely with Takeo. They both shared informantion between eachother, and this benefited both Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan.
Although Takeo had no knowlege of the wide scale attack on Pearl Harbor, he assumed that the information gathered would be used against America in some way. Takeo would transmit over 200 transmissions between Tokyo and himself. American codebreakers actually saw some of the transmissions, but dismissed them labeling them as commercial use due to all the transmissions used. Takeo used a short wave radio to transmit the transmissons. Around october before the attack, Takeo got the code "East wind, rain" which meant to destroy all evidence of Espionage. Takeo left the island on the same day, and was taken by the FBI. He was let go due to lack of evidence.
