Blog assignment #2. Coureur de Bois were fur traders back in the 17th Century. they were part of new france and played a big part of hunting. These people often searched the new land and traded fur. These people wanted beaver, deer anything they could get there hands on. The most popular fur was the beaver fur.

The popular fur trade was by far the beaver. The beaver pelt became the prime focus of their activities. There was such a big demand for beaver back in Europe. The beaver fur was protection and to wear. They wanted so much beaver so they could use it for everything. The hunters wanted so much fur they did whatever they could to get it. The reduction of the beaver population forced the trappers and traders to push deeper into the interior places in search of their prey.
The whites and the native americans also got involved. The whites wanted these furs so they traded manufactured items in return for animal skins. They also traded weapons for there fur. This exchange angered another French presence, the missionaries,so they introduced alcohol to the Indian society. For the most part everyone got along as long as each trader and reciver got wat they wanted. The French also said thet had all this fur to trade and sometimes they didnt have the fur and sometimes the indians didnt have the fur so they had a little break out. Some people died and others injured from this behaviour. The Fench didnt have licenses so they were trading their items to the indians for the furs illegally. So for the most part These people traded there furs and there items so they could live, and make money to send back to Europe. I think the french and the indians had no problems for the most part doing this transaction thats why it worked out.
