Something Interesting about Chapter 15

Social Security ActThe Social Security Act provided economic security for senior citizens. This act was passed in 1935. It was created by a committee headed by the Secretary of Labor, Frances Perkins. The Congress passed the Social Security Act as part of the New Deal. One of the reasons of this act was to help widows. There were three provisions in the Social Security Act.The first provision was to give insurance to retire people over the age of 65. This was basically just a retirement plan for the elderly. Social Security made the retirement life much more enjoyable and relaxing for the elderly. The second provision was the unemployment compensation system. This system was funded by taxing the owners of businesses. The original payments were between fifteen and eighteen dollars per week. The third provision was an aid to families with little or no income, or with disable children. This part provided needy families with financial stability.I think that Social Security was is a great thing for our country. It's a could way for people with a lot to give to people with little. I think that there are some disadvantages in it, especially with the aid to families with little income. The family might have little income, because they are to lazy to do anything.
