Socialism is a form of government that allows the government taking control of business and everything owned by the people and was made to replace Capitalism, which cause few people to have power. Although the ancient Greeks came up with the basis of Socialism, the modern concept of it was made due to industrial capitalism. Karl Marx came up with the idea that Socialism will be put in the place of Capitalism and be the precursor to a Communism run Government.
Socialism was supported by many of the working class citizens due to the corruption caused by Capitalism; Socialism was brought over by German immigrants. Eugene V. Debs was a Union leader who ran for president for the Socialist Democratic Party. Which was formed in 1897 and led to the founding of Socialist Party of America by merging with the Socialist Labor Party, Eugene was a populist until the ARU strike was defeated.
During the Cold war, the Socialist party basically disappeared throughout the wars duration, and then in the early seventies, trying to run as president again. But in more recent times, the Socialist party consists of the Neo-Nazi, who wants to "Purify" the society. And then their is the Democratic Socialist party, who wants freedom for all and the ability for every one to reach their full potential. Airports and other such publicly owned facility is considered to be a socialistic act..
