Tuesday- I took the Canada/Provinces quiz in front of the class and got %100.
U.S. Debt: We're 18.3 trillion dollars in debt. When Bush left office, it was 10 billion. If every U.S. citizen wrote a check for $57,128 (includes babies,elderly,etc.), we would be completely out of debt. Government will have to raise taxes and cut spending to many different programs to get a balanced debt; no one will vote for a candidate who supports that.
Christian Liberty Party- believes government should be lead by religious, Christian leaders. U.S. has a separation of church and state; other countries like Middle East have a complete Islamic government. Teachers can talk about religion in school, but can't force it upon you and try to make you believe it.
Germany's Main Parties- CDUCSU: one big party and a smaller one. Smaller one has control of one of Germany's 16 countries. Larger one was formed out of WWII; stands for social welfare. Head of Party is Chancellor; Angela Merker. Very conservative and christian (like Republican) Is Germany's main party.
SPD- Social Democrat. Oldest Party-1875. Gaines a lot of support from big cities. Is more liberal and opened minded (more Democratic)
We were split into groups and assigned a political system to investigate. My group got Democracy (Direct and Representative). Political System; type of government. Economic System; how money and jobs are managed. We will research our topic and make a power point out of it. We need a book definition (cite it), a student friendly definition, 5 examples of countries who have or have had system (include pictures), and we then have to act out our system!! 2 words, make 2 skits. Friday- Today is 9/11.
9/11 Documentary- Al quida was responsible for the attack. Within a month, we were at war with Afghanistan and we still are.
