Today we started tests, pretty sure I wont get up so I'm not gonna study much.. but anyways we have tp identify at least 4-6 main ideas in our section. So therefore, I'm going to re-read my section and blog!.(1)Blacks were not the only people that were descriminated against there was also Native Americans, Mexicans, and Chinese immigrants who were being descriminated. (2)The voting restrictions were very strict, some states made laws that people had to read and had to take a literacy test to be able to vote. Blacks were most likely asked harder questions on the tests or were given a test in a foreign language. Officials could also pass anyone or fail anyone if they wanted to. (3) The grandfather clause said that that even if someone had failed the literacy test or could not pay the poll tax, he could still be able to vote if the man, his father, or his grandfather had been eligible to vote before January 1,1867. (4) Plessy vs. Ferguson case said that blacks and whites were "seperate but equal", and that the doctrine would stay intact even though they were seperated, but they had to have equal services. (5) Blacks and whites never shook hands, because it showed equalty. Blacks had to yield to whites on sidewalks, and blacks had to always remove their hats for whites. Any blacks who didn't abide by these, they were punished or lynched, killed without trial.
