Monday- Continued to watch The Men Who Built America Part 3

Tuesday- Started back on our notes. 

Granger Laws

- Series of state laws passed in several Midwestern states (Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois) (Late 1860s and Early 1870s)

- Designed to fight back against railraod abuses 

- Wantedrailroads and grain elevator to charfe fair prices 

- Munn v Illinois (1877) Supreme Court supported farmers

- Wabash v Illinois (1886) Supreme Court supported the railroads

Interstate Commerce Act (1887)

- Allowed the US GOvernment to supervise railraods 

-Required ralroad rates to be "Fair and Just"

- Set up Interstate Commerce Commmission to carry out law

- Failed to help farmers at first

Populist Movement-Omaha Platform (1890s)

- Help farmers out of debt 

- Give people a greater voice in government 

- Increases money supply in circulation-Silverities

 Wednesday- NO SCHOOL!!!!

Thursday- Went over some things we talked about on Wednesday. Ane Bruns talked a lillte more briefly about the Populist movement. Then he got us back into the the series The Men Who Built America.
