Al QaedaAl Qaeda is a terrorist group ran by bin Laden. The difference of the taliban and al qaeda is al al qaeda is the world wide terrorist organization which has based in iraq and the taliban is the government that used to be in power in Afghanistan.War in AfghanistanWe went to war in Afghanistan because we wanted to look for Osama bin Laden. We invaded on October 7, 2001. We went to war as a direct result of what happened on 9-11. As of recently military leaders are demanding more troops. We currently have 62,000 troops there and aroud 35,000 troops from other countries. In 2004 Afghanistan democratically elected their leaders for the first time ever. They developed a democracy in Afghanistan which was one of our goals.
