Today in CWI Bri and Sky told us about their blog topics from last week because they have been gone. Mr. Bruns put the number 9,723.69 which is the DOW jones stock market as of right now. When it hits 10,000 Mr. Bruns is going to bring donuts for all of us :). We did more oral tests today during class. I went today and did pretty well. I also researched information for our debate tomorrow. I'm glad that for the debate we don't have to know all the topics off the top of our heads.Here are all of the topics for the debate tomorrow:-abortion: Democrats believe that abortion should be legal. They think that women should have the rights to their own bodies.-flag burning: Some of the Democrats think that it should be banned becasue of the powerful symbol. Others think that it affects freedom of expression or free speech.-gun control: Democrats think that we need more gun regulations. This means that only certain people can have certain types of guns.-environmental laws: Democrats are usually more enviromentally considerate compared to the Republicans. For example the Democrats don't think that we should drill for oil in Alaksa. They are concerned that it will have negative impact on the environment.-immigration: The Democrats think that we cannot continue to allow people to enter the United States undetected, undocumented, and unchecked. They believe that we should secure our borders.-minimum wage: Democrats support what the minimum wage is or having the minimum wage be higher.-health care: Democrats believe that everyone should be able to have affordable healthcare.-taxes: They believe that the wealthy should have to pay higher taxes and the middle class should pay the same as always.-US role in the world--Iraq: Democrats believe that the war in Iraq should come to a responsible end which means that the sooner we leave Iraq the more quickly Iraq will become stable.-military spending: Democrats think that we should increase our military spending becasue this will help them get bigger and better.-affirmative action laws: Democrats support it. The affirmative action laws say that race or whatever else shouldn't matter. People shouldn't discriminate based on those things.-death penalty: Democrats think it should be legal. The capital punishment is pretty much just ineffective.-gay marriage: Democrats are for gay marriage. They believe that when two people are in love they should be allowed to be with eachother.-prayer in school: Democrats believe it shouldn't be allowed at school, that we need to keep church and state seperate.-US role in the world--Afghanistan: They believe we should be focusing more on Afganistan instead or Iraq. They think we should send more troops to Afganistan. They also believe that if we win the war in Afganistan the war will come to an end.-Us role in the United Nations: Democrats believe that we should have United Nations to help solve the worlds problems.
