Monday 9/22-
ISIS- people being forced to leave their homes- Kerds are latest ISIS target- over 1 million have been displaced. UNCHR- protecting human rights around the world and helping those in need.
*Ethnic Cleansing- Kill off specific race. Kill some and make them leave and get rid of their culture. Ex- Syria and Iraq are being cleansed of Kerdish Ethnicity
*Genocide- mass killing of a specific race, or group of people. Try and kill as many people as you can. Ex- Holocaust

Tuesday 9/23- We went over forum posts as class,
*** Strikes against ISIL in Syria, September 23, began and will continue, have help from Muslims from Arab world, Collision of countries. hit Rocha the hardest and we also struck al- Qaeda group that was believed to have plans to attack the US.
~Arab countries helping-- Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Untied Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar.
~Illegal or not? Many believe it was, but many believe it was okay to strike them
~We are not sending troops in, because we don't want to declare war and we can not win ground wars in Iraq and we just got troops out and don't want to send them back.
*Bipartisan- agreement from both political parties.
*Mock speed- speed of sound - 750 mph- 1900 mph on the F/A 22 Raptor (mock 2.5), used September 23, to strike Syria (ISIS).
*Tomahawk Missile- shot Lybia 3 years ago - ships, used last night and will continue to use overseas.
*Fighter jets- plane - fight other planes, can shoot missiles.
Wednesday 9/24-

Obama's Address to United Nations- world is at crossroads-- US is not and will not be at war with Islam- it teaches peace.

--Ferguson-Last night (9/24) there was a major violence outbreak because of a group burning a memorial
District Attorney- Grand Jury is questioning could be the end of December before we know if Officer Wilson will be charged or not
--Airstrikes are continuing - civilians have been killed- not what we want to hear but not always controllable
--Sexism- discrimination against gender, men have been dominate gender in world for a long time, this happens mostly against women.
- 1920's -got the right to vote, and things started to get better for women with help from world war.
- 1950-70's- Title 9- girls can equally compete in sports.Girls can go into guy sports but not many times can guys go into girls sports.
- Women can now fight in combat operations-- since around 2012

We read the article "Is Softball Sexist?" and discussed it, we then watched the video of Emma Watson's UN Speech
