Bush Doctrine- Untied states had the right to secure itself after terrorists countries that harbor or give aid to terrorists groups against (President Obama supports this)

al-Qaeda- Means the base It is a stateless (meaning without a country) Terrorist organization. It was lead and Financed by Osama Bin Laden I t is now lead by Ayman al-Zawahiri
September 17: : We took the class quiz and now we are doing more on 9/11. We went over these acronyms
DHS- Department of Homeland security- Goal to protect the homeland. Was set up after 9/11. It was set up specifically because of 9/11 They protect borders
FBI- Investigate crimes that are federal. Deal with native american issue crimes. Protects the USA. 1935 when they official became FBI
CIA- Set up in 1947. CIA more outside of the country. Central intelligent agencies. Gets intelligence.
NSA- National security Agency: Made of spies and hackers. Organized 1952. NSA has planted spy bugs in other countries and even allies countries.
Water gates- scandal breaking into the democrat and video taping them to embarrasses them to have favor in Nixon and Nixon tries covering up and tried getting CIA to help cover up.
Church Committee- Committed scandals killing people and killing other leaders. They made secret deals with terrorist and other groups. They made bad deals with the devil. It was all under the table (no one knew). Until it came out and people didn't like it. Church leader was congress man from Idaho.
September 16: We are going through the questions that a group was given.
Why did they attack us:
They declared jihad on us. (Religious war)
We were helping Israel and they didn't like them
Us putting troops in Saudi Arabia
We have prisons in Israel and Iraq
They thought we were going against Muslims
Supporting Russia against the Chechnya
Supporting the no Islamic Indian government
Economic sanctions: A peaceful way to restrict trades
What did the US do?
Airports closed: reopened with more security
National Parks and Landmarks closed
Professional and college sports were delayed: Many movies and TV shows were cancelled and delayed.
Went to war in Afghanistan where Al Qaeda was based
September 15: We went over the Latin American countries and finished the video on George Bush and 9/11. Then we did a few questions over it but didn't finish them

He was reading with a class in Florida.

He needs to keep a state of calmness because if the president isn't calm no one else would.

Because it was a war zone and wasn't safe for him
4. What did the US government/military do to to ensure another attack did not occur?
1: They stopped all airflights
2: they told everyone still in flight to land
3: shot down any planes that were still up
5. Why was President Bush sent to Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha?
Because it was safe and had a good communication center.
6. Why did President Bush eventually insist on going back to Washington D.C. later that day against the will of the Secret Service?
Because if he did the broadcast in the bunker it would of shown the terrorists that they won and he didn't want to do that so he went back to the oval office so it showed the america is still standing.
7. What was the point of President Bush's message to the nation on the evening of 9-11?
To show everyone that we weren't afraid and that we were going to get revenge on the terrorists.
8. Why did President Bush decide not to blame the CIA/FBI for not doing their job?
He voted to move on and not point fingers
9. How did President Bush feel when he heard that Osama bin Laden had been killed?
He felt closure
