Why did they attack us- Wanted to start a jihad and start a holy war, we were helping governments al quida didn't like etc like isareal. They didn't like the US station troops in sadia Arabia. Supporting the Indian oppression in cashmere. Biggest thing that we sent troops to iraq. What impact did it have short term and long term- Airports closed for a few days~ re-opened with much tougher security measures. nation parks and landmarks ere closed for a while due to potential attacks. professional and college sports were delayed. Many movies/tv shows/video games were cancelled or delayed. US went to war in Afghanistan as that is where AL Qaeda was based. Patriotism increased gratefully.
September 17: We went over class quiz. Going over 9/11. DHS- Department of Homeland security- Goal to protect the homeland. Was set up after 9/11. FBI- Investigate crimes that are federal. Deal with native american issue crimes. Protects the USA. 1935 when they official became FBI. CIA- Set up in 1947. CIA more outside of the country. Central intelligent angenties. Gets intelligence. NSA- National security agencies. Spies and hackers. Organized 1952. NSA has planted spy bugs in other countries and even allies. Water gates- scandal breaking into the democrat and video taping them to embarrasses them to have favor in Nixon and Nixon tries covering up and tried getting CIA to help cover up. Church Committee- Committed scandals killing people and killing other leaders. They made secret deals with terrorist and other group. Made bad deals with the devil. It was all under the table no one knew. Until it came out and people didn't like it. Church was congress man from Idaho.
September 18: Went of maps Talked about 9/11 and terrorist groups reason why and people.
September 19: Went of Caribbean island map. Talked about the voting in United kingdom. Scotland does not want to be independent. Mohmoud Ahmadinejad said he thinks the Holocaust was a myth and what about all the others Syrians dying.
Us VS. Afghanistan - Taliban. Went into war because of 9/11 attacks.
Us VS. Iraq (ISIS) - Involvement with Iraq again is with Syria
US VS. Syria ( Syrian + Asad + ISIS) - People wanted more education and they rebelled and Asad stepped in and started attacking Syrian rebels. US supported rebels because don't like Asad government. President Obama is waiting to give an 'OK' to bomb Syria but we would be helping Asad because he doesn't like ISIS too. US troops would help Syrian rebels fight against ISIS.
US VS. Iran (Historical issues) - Never been at war with Iran. Islamic revolution Iran- US and Britain were all good allies. In Iran they got sick of the US controlling them. in 1979 they took a bunch of american people hostage, that started the down spiral of Iran and United states not being friends. Iran became more Anti- United states.
US supports of the Israel - Palestinians.
