Long term- lots of diseases from dust inhalation

Long term- TSA, airplane security
Short term- Late night talk shows were cancelled
Long term- war in Afghanistan
Short term- people did not let children go to school

DHS- Department of Homeland Security, protects homes from terrorist attacks
FBI- Federal Bureau of Investigation, protects our country and things in our country.
CIA- Central Intelligence Agency, spy outside of the country. Spies on governments
NSA- National Security Administration, looks on social media and finds hackers
Church committee- senator from Idaho, researched the CIA and FBI. Looked at what CIA did over years, they did bad things. Supported communist leaders and other public assassinations.
Thursday-
USA was stripped a lot of their powers, CIA was blamed (say they were stripped of their powers)

Bush doctrine- had rights to secure itself against countries, US should depose potential threats to our security, encourage democracy especially in Middle East

Osama Bin Laden was born from his dad’s 10th wife. He was the 7th child out of 50 siblings. Born March 12, 1957. Dad died in a plane crash.
Friday-
Middle East supplies a lot of oil. Israel is Jewish. Everyone around them is Muslim, so they don't get along. Israel became a country in 1947 and was at first known as Palestine. Want to create an individual Palestinian country next to Israel. We support Israel and have nuclear weapons.
Afghanistan has been at war since 1979. After Soviet Union declared war on them, we helped support them and gave them weapons. 1995 civil war ends and the Taliban takes over the government of Afghanistan. We've been at war there ever since.
Turkey used to rule Iraq, until they got their independence. Iraq and Iran were at war in the 80's. Sunni Islamic vs. Shia Islamic. Gave Iraq weapons to help fight Iran. Kurd's bombed and gassed people of his own country. They attacked Kuwait in 1990 and we then sent troops over to Saudi Arabia and freed Kuwait from Iraq control. Weapons of mass destruction, nuclear chemicals and fought for 8 years.
