NOTES-
Native Americans coming (They came over the land bridge) - treated bad and were forced to do things
Columbus and exploration - from Italy and sailed for Spain.. First person in 1429 to sale the ocean blue.... he came on 4 different voyages.. terrible for the natives american ... good for us for starting a way for trade and letting people know they can come over
Age of exploration - Countries were after riches .... gold, timber, farmland , slaves... France, Spain, Great Britain New England, Portugal
Colonization - Britain settled in Canada , Spanish settled in NA and SA , French settled in NA and Canada , Russia settled over in Canada , and the dutch in SA
Rev, War - "Don't Tread on Me" which means less Gov. and wanted their freedom and space without the King and British Gov. being so tough on them .... The British were taxing them (No taxation without representation - they would put the taxes as high as they wanted and the colonist had no say in it and no represents) , after 1763 the French and Ind. War the Britain were in dept and so they starting enforcing taxes and made people pay and thats when the colonist became mad
Boston Massacre (1770) - Winter time... Some colonist were throwing snowballs at some British troops and the troops were mad and killed them so the colonist were mad... The colonist were also mad for all the taxing so they threw the tea with taxes into the water

Difference between exploration and civilization/colonization- exploration they don't want to stay and are looking for goods and colonization they are staying
Constitution- tells us how the nation should be ran by establishing the 3 branches of Gov. ... protects our rights (amendments/bill of rights) ....
*Legislative- make laws and declare war
*judicial- supreme court .... declare whether a law is constitutional or not
*executive- President and vice president ... President's are commander and chief of US military and enforces laws...
articles of confederation (our first gov. 1783-1789)- failed miserably because the states had all the power because they didn't want a monarchy (king) ..... They relied on the states for everything ... the founding fathers decided to meet and have the Constitution invention to fix the articles up but then eventually scrapped and the Constitution was born..
Westward Expansion- Louisiana purchase was from France.. Lewis and Clark expedition.... how we became what we are and got the united states

Texan/Mexican War and Mexican/American War- Texas won against Mexico and were basically on their own for about 8 years ( " lone stars" ) .. We invaded their country and made them start the war because we wanted land ... They moved west fro gold, to form a new life, farming, sheep herding, cattle ranching
Civil War- everything was broken up into territories... Abe was elected in 1860 and he was against slavery and the Southern states were worried about loosing everything and slavery ... the border states of the civil war were Lincoln administration Delaware Maryland Kentucky and Missouri .... the goal of the North was to keep America together ... The North won
