We finished presentations for Athens. We started presentaions for Sparta.

We finished presentations for Sparta.

Women had more rights and got an education. They could own their own land and recieved an education. Women tried to be more athletic and powerful and this lead to stronger children. Cowardly and weak offspring were killed.

Athen Democracy vs US Democracy- Athens- male, 18 yo, born of citizen parents. Laws were voted on and purposed directly by assembly of all citizens. Leader chosen by lot, Juries vary in size. Citizens must be born in US or go through process. Representitives electedto propose and vote laws,  Elected Pres. etc.

Persian Wars- (Greco-Persion)- Wars fought between the Persian Empire and Greek city-states(Athens, Sparta, Thebes, etc.)Persian Leader Cyrus The Great took over Ionia and they werebasically knocking on Greece's door. Why did Persia want Greece? Walth and resurces, Cyrus The Great would gain more fame. And it would end numerous rebellions in the western part of their empire. 

Ionian Revolt- Lead by Athenian General Militades after Ionia asked Athens for their help. Darius the Great (Persian Leader) was miffed that Athens agreed to help Ionia and pledges to crush Athens and burn them to the ground.

Militiades Ascapes- Militiades escaped back to Athens and told the athenians that the persians were coming to burn Athens. 

Persian Peace Envoy- Darius sent an envoy to the Greek city States asking them to submit "earth and water" to the Persians, meaning they will hand everything they own over to Persia. Most city states complies but Athens killed the Persian envoys in response. Darius responds with a naval invasion of 600 ships and 25,000 men.
