Senator Inhofe- Global Warming.

This weeks blog topic was about Senator James Inhofe. He says one of the things the media talks about the most is global warming. Since 1895 the media has switched between talking about global warming and global cooling. They have talked about these in different time periods. From 1895 to the 1930’s the media said there was an ice age coming. From the 1920’s to the 1960’s they were freaking out about global warming. From the 1950’s to the 1970’s the media talked about an ice age they thought was coming. Senator James Inhofe’s disbelieving opinion on man- made global warming keeps increasing when new science comes in. A result of lots of research that has gone on lately shows that Antarctica keeps getting cooler and the ice is growing. He found out that the sun was 50% worthy of the 20th century warming. The director of the International Arctic Research Center in Fairbanks, Alaska talked to congress. He said that after hearing what all of the computers now days say about the future of our planet. He says “he now believes that the greatest climate threat we face may be coming from computer models”.Last week Inhofe’s committee heard that Bjorn Lomborg had written a book called “The Skeptical Environmentalist”. He used to be a on the committee as the lift-wing environmentalist until he decided that a lot of what the movement taught was just bad science. In the book that he wrote he put a list in it of the world’s biggest problems. On the list they put global warming as one of the least important topics. At the top of the list he put combating disease, stopping malaria, securing clean water and building infrastructure to help life the developing nations out of poverty. Inhofe strongly believes that when generations that come after us will look back on what we have done with our generation and wonder why we spent so much time on global warming. In April, Time Magazine had an article in one of their issues that was named “Be Worried, Be Very Worried”. Inhofe says this is the same magazine that in the 1920’s said that there was an ice age coming. The Time Magazine was trying to warn everyone about an ice age in the 1920’s, a global warming in the 1930’s, and an ice age in the 1970’s.On September 15, 2006 an article in the Reuters news said that polar bears are in danger to becoming no longer active because of global warming. The article said that they were talking to a visitor of the Arctic and they said that they saw two polar bears that looked like they were having extreme physical pain. In the article is said that one of the polar bears he say looked like it was dead and the other polar bear the saw just looked very tired. Inhofe says “the article did not say that the bears were actually dead or tired, it just said that they looked that way”.This article made me think about how I shouldn’t believe every little thing that is in the newspaper and in magazines. I think there is global warming. People could be exaggerating global warming but I definitely think there is at least a little bit. Some people think that global warming is part of a natural cycle.
