He is still a political figure in Iran yet today. Obama believes they have a nuclear program over there.IRAQ---Well the good Iraqis want basic serves such as clean water and a steady supply of electricity. The United States has been helping with construction over there. This construction isn't done but is moving along. 60 percent of all projects aimed at improving Iraq's water supply, including work on sewer systems and drinking water supplies, won't happen soon because the money got pushed away from this topic. The water project was suppose to help 8 million people but now only helps 2.75 million. 2 out of 10 sewer projects will be done. 125 out of 425 electricity projects will get done. The United States will be helping with these goals. Problems they have are a sense of insecurity and lots of violence happening. The conflict between the Republic of Iraq and the State of Kuwait. The seven month long occupation of Kuwait by Iraq lead to U.S. getting involved. Iraq accused Kuwait of stealing there oil in 1990. Iraq sources said Saddam Hussein’s decision was to attack Kuwait. The Invasion started August 2, 1990. Kuwait was ovverrun within two days of combat. A few days later Saddam Hussein announced that it was the 19th province of Iraq. During the Iran Iraq war Kuwait was a very close allie to Iraq. This mainly took place in Kuwait.James Inhofe is the United States Senator. He speaks about all the hype on global warming from the media side and science side. He has spoke the most in Washington than anyother politician about the topic. James also talks about former Vice President Al Gore's movie " An Inconvenient Truth." Since 1895, the media has been torn between global warming and cooling. The "hockey stick" first apperead in 1998 in Medieval Times. There were hot and cold periods starting at AD all the way to present times. Scientist believe it was warmer in the Medieval Warm Period, when the Vikings grew crops in Greenland. Carbon Dioxide emissions were also apart of Earth's temperature. One degree Fahrenheit temperature increase during the 20th century meant we are all doomed. One degree Fahrenheit rise the went together with the greatest advancement of living standards, life expectancy, food production, and human health in the history of are planet. Climate alarmnist and media have continued to ignore the fact that The Little Ice Age ended in about 1850. Theory has it that CO2 has been the driving force of global warming. In the 1940's man-made CO2 emissions rose sharpely and then declined in the 1970's. Kyoto Protocol is also mentioned with global warming. There are a lot of scientists out there today debunking the latest scaremongering on climate change. Personally I thought this artical or story was very long. This artical had a lot of big words in it that were confusing and I had to look them up. It was very nice knowing abut the media side and the science side of it. Here are some things I have never really herd about were the "Hockey Stick" and the "Kyoto Protocol." Well we will discuss more abut this in class tomorrow so I will learn more. The Darfur Conflict was in Darfur and Sudan in February 2003. The Sudan Liberation Army, Justice, and Equality Movement in Darfur took arms up. They accused the government of holding down Africans in favoring Arabs. One side was composed mainly of Sudanese military and Janjaweed, a Sudanese militia group. They were recruited mostly from Afro-Arab Abbala tribes. They were of the northern Rizeigat region in Sudan, the tribes are mainly camel herding nomads. The other side was made up of rebel groups like the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army and Justice and Equality Movement. They were recruited from the non-Arab Muslim Fur, Zaghawa, and Masalit ethnic groups. The Sudanese government, publically denying that it supports Janjaweed, was accused of providing financial assistance to the militia. They also participated in joint attacks targeting civilians. The government has also been accused of tampering with evidence, like trying to cover up mass graves. They arrested and harassed journalist, limiting the extent of press coverage of the situation. The United States government has described the conflict as genocide. The United Nations haven’t recognized it as genocide yet though. On January 31 the United Nations wrote 176 page report saying while there were mass murders and rapes of Darfurian civilians. Therefore they cannot label the atrocities as genocide because genocidal intent appears to be missing. Many activists however refer to the crisis in Darfur as genocide. In May 2006 the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army led by Minni Minnawi signed a peace agreement with the Sudanese government. The SLM led by Abdul Wahid al Nur, refrained from signing the agreement. The Rwanda Genocide was the mass killing of Rwanda's Hutu and Tutsis political moderates in 1994. In Rwanda the Hutu and Tutsis are the two groups. These two groups are very similair though. They have the same ethnic believes and speak the same language. The Hutu dominated government did this during the Hutu Power ideology. In approximently 100 days at least 500,000 people were killed. the time period was from April 6 to mid July, and during this time the assasignation of Juvénal Habyarimana happened. Roughly over 20% of the countries popullation was dead, which the number count ranged between 500,000 to 1,000,000. They believe the main cause was the Tutsis were treated unfair. The Tutsis were treated better and got better educational things along with jobs. This made the Hutu mad and very angry, that is when they killed 20,000 Tutis in 1959. In 1990 the Rwandan Patriotic Front, a rebel group consisted mostly of Tutis refugees invaded northern Rwanda. Increasing ethnic tensions in the country led to the Hutu Power. Tutsi intended to enslave the Hutu. The events lead to the 1994 genocide.Today in class we watched The World Is Flat video.1.
