  1. ) The first type of political system is an Absolute Monarchy and a Constitutional Monarchy. An Absolute Monarchy is a government that is ruled by a king or queen that has absolute control over the government and makes all the laws. A Constitutional Monarchy is when the king or queen is just a figurehead and a parliament has the law making power.
The second type is anarchy and anarchy is basically a failed state with no government; basically anarchy is, in a word, chaos.
There is also a dictatorship, which is when one person takes control of the entire government.

An other type is communism, or rather, the theory of communism, because it has never been truly achieved. The attempted communisms of the past have all ended up as dictatorships. The theory of communism is a theory of a society in which there is no government and no leader elevated over the people. In theory all the people should be equal and live in a society where they own the businesses and control the funds.

The last political systems are a direct and representative democracy. A representative democracy is when the people elect a representative to speak on behalf of them. In a direct democracy the people vote on the issues and it’s basically the majority rules.

The two economic systems are Socialism, when the government owns the businesses and every thing.

The other type is Capitalism, which is where the people own the businesses.

2) The differences between the two political parties are pretty obvious on the major topics. For a start Republicans are more conservative and Democrats are more liberal. Here are each sides views on the major issues:

Gay Rights: Democrats believe that gay marriage should be allowed because it is embodied in the peoples’ right to privacy and free will. Republicans believe that it should not be allowed because it violates the tradition and sanctity of matrimony.

Abortion: Democrats think that abortion should be legal because it is the mother’s right to do with her body what she will and that it’s her right to be protected along with her privacy.
Republicans believe that it should be illegal because they think that a life starts at conception and if you kill that embryo or fetus you are technically committing a murder.

Flag Burning: Democrats are of the opinion that flag burning is within a persons right to freedom of expression and protest as it is protected by the first amendment. Republicans believe that it should be restricted by a constitutional amendment because the flag is the symbol of our nation and its ideals.

Gun Control: Democrats think that gun control is needed and that you need a background check to purchase one. Republicans are against gun control because it is our second amendment right to bear arms.

Environment: democrats are in favor of strong laws that protect the environment and preserve it.
Republicans are more economically friendly and say that strong environmental laws hurt our economy.

Affirmative action: Democrats think that anti-discrimination laws are necessary and they favor affirmative action. Republicans think that it doesn’t make up for the wrongs in the past and that it leads to reverse discrimination and that we can trust businesses to not discriminate.

Minimum Wage: Democrats think that raising it would be a good idea and help stabilize families and maybe the economy. Republicans are against it because they say that it hurts the businesses.

Healthcare: Democrats think everybody should have healthcare and that it should be government provided. Republicans think that private insurers are preferable to a government system and that it’s the first step towards socialism.

Taxes: Democrats want to increase taxes on the wealthy to help pay for programs that help the financially unstable. Republicans want to cut taxes on everybody because it will help the economy and taxing the wealthy is wrong because they worked for the money.

Military spending: Democrats want to cut military spending and expand the programs to act in sync with other nations to improve relations with the UN. Republicans want to increase military spending and really don’t want to be encompassed and constrained by the UN.

Death Penalty: Democrats oppose it because it is not our duty to decide who is innocent and who deserves death. Republicans favor the death penalty as they think it is necessary and effective.

Prayer in School: Democrats think that prayer should not be allowed in school because of the separation of church and state. Republicans think it should be allowed because it is our religious heritage.

War in Iraq: Democrats think it’s a waste of money and time when we should be in Afghanistan and they want an exit plan. Republicans want to stay in until the job is done and that Iraq’s new
government will kick in soon and stabilize.

3) Some of the causes of Global warming are rising temperatures due to a build up of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. It is causing the oceans to rise, coral to bleach, the ice caps to melt and animals to die out. Some more causes of Global warming are deforestation, over population, and pollution of all kinds. Some people think that it is just more media hype trying to scare people into doing stuff.

4) The causes of overpopulation are no birth control, poverty, minimal resources, and even refugees from wars and conflicts. Overpopulation is one of the most common causes of pollution, deforestation, and animal endangerment. When people live in areas with little or no natural resources they are forced to poach animal and steal. The close quarters that overpopulation in developing countries causes the spread of diseases and leads to violence and struggles over the minimal resources available.

5) Globalization has opened up the world to us. Not only has it made communication across the world possible, it has given us infinite sources of information at our finger tips for little or no cost. Globalization has made the world flat and shown us things about other countries and cultures that we never even imagined. It has brought us closer to the each other and made it possible for outsourcing and helped international commerce and trade.

6) The conflict in Iraq is that we went in there really for no good reason but then we were in there and we said that we wouldn’t leave until it was resolved. Iraq had a dictator, Sadam Hussein that we helped the people overthrow and later we helped catch him and he was hung for crimes against his
country. We then helped the Iraqis set up a democracy and we are there until the government stabilizes. President Obama has made plans to have the troops out of Iraq by the middle of June of 2011. The issue in Afghanistan is the whole thing that started the issue in Iraq. Afghanistan used to
be run by the Taliban and they let the terrorist organization, Al-Qaeda, into the country and mountains and that is where their base is. We are in Afghanistan because the terrorist group attacked the Twin Towers and they are responsible for the
hijacking of 5 planes on the same day.

When that happened President Bush sent out a message saying that we would pursue the group until it was gone and if you weren’t with us, you were against us. That was the start of
the war on terror that is still going on. We are still looking for the leader of Al-Qaeda, Osama bin Lauden.

The situation in Iran is that we, meaning the UN, think that Iran has nuclear weapons, and Iran’s president Amidinijad and Allotyah won’t let the nuclear arms inspectors in the country
like they were required to do by the UN after the invaded Kuwait. We also have a problem with them
because they are sending weapons, money, and trained soldiers into Afghanistan to fight with the terrorists against us.

The situation in Darfur is that Chad is drying up and becoming desert-like. Darfur has rich farmland that the Arabs want to take and kick the black Africans off their land. The radical group the Janjaweed have slaughtered hundreds of people, stolen their land, burned their villages, and
raped their women. The conflict is still going on and so far the death total has been in the thousands, mostly from starvation and poor conditions.

The situation in Rwanda was that when the Dutch left they left the Hutu in power and they had problems with the Tutsi. Then in 1994 they attacked slaughtering 800,000 in 100 days. In the end the Tutsi rebels won and they took control of the country, forcing the Hutu into the Congo.

The situation in Somalia is that they are the number one failed state. They have had anarchy for a long time and in their country they have terrorist cells, piracy, and other things. The piracy off the coast is really bad because the pirates are attacking larger rigs like oilrigs that they can get money from. The terrorist cells have attacked each other and the world and they have destroyed tons of buildings and entire districts of the country. Their poor government has also led to poverty among the people of the country. It has even led to teens joining militia groups, just so they can feed their families and keep them relatively safe.
