    -Pearl Harbor- Japanattacked the USnaval base on December 7 1941to keep the USout of WW2 but it launched the USinto the war.
    -D-Day- the day the us launched an attack on Germany
    -Atomic bombing- caused the surrender of Japan.The USdropped two atomic bombs on Japanese cities.
    -Africa/European Front-
    -Pacific Front- the US focused more on Japan because the attacked US, theUSA used the strategy of island hopping to concur Japan.

    3. Students will understand how/why the Allies won WWII.

    4. Students will understand the causes, effects and major events of theCold War.

    a. Define the Cold War and it's causes
    b. Policy of Containment -domino effect, mutual deterrence, massiveretaliation, Truman Doctrine, Marshall Plan, NATO

    d. The Red Scare--McCarthyism and HUAC
    e. Fidel Castro, Bay of Pigs and Missile Crisis
    f. China
    g. Nuclear Arms Race and Reductions
    h. How the Cold War ended.

Declares war on France1954. Dinh Diem catholic southernleader of South Vietnamelect (hated the Buddhists). Who fought? USAand the South Vietnamagainst North Vietnamand the Vietcong. 1964 the USsent troops over to fight. Every year it escalated our forces. Johnson wasthought that he wanted war. His heart said we should not go over but hismind remembered the domino effect. Gulfof Tonkin conflict.
