Students will understand the impact the Industrial Revolution had on the United States.The Industrial Revolution had a big impact on the world. It was more of the inventing time though.Thing were being invented and people were getting rich, then other people would try inventing things. There were lots of inventions that took place in the I.R.Such things as the Light. Invented by Thomas Edison. Other things were that longer working hours were inquired because they could see in the dark now. This lead to hard long working hours.Another big part of the Industrial Revolution was John Rockefeller. He basically was a stud and made it so all the small businesses around him went out of business causing people to buy from him. Then when he took out all the businesses around him, he would raise the prices obnoxiously and people would basically be forced to buy from him. Also with him being the only business he could raise his prices to whatever he wanted to. Which made him filthy rich.The Sherman Antitrust law also took place in it this time era. That was an act that interefered with free trade between countries and states also getting rid of monopolies. A monopoly was when someone would keep buying out businesses or making them go out of business all around the world or state. Which in return gave the owner the opportunity to keep his prices at whatever they wanted making them rich as heck in return. Also another thing that took place was children working just as long or just as hard as most of the male workers in mines and factories as such. They used them to get into tight spaces or small places that men could not fit into. They also would be working 12-16 hour days monday through sunday. This gave them ast lower it down.Students will understand the impact immigration andno time to be schooled. Gave no or little pay, also gave no benefits. The Labor unions helped get rid of this or atle urbanization had on the United States.Immigration had an impact because so many of them would be coming to the US causing people to loose their jobs. Such as if someone complained about their wages they would be fired because they knew that they could hire an immigrant who would work for very little pay because they had no money and they needed whatever they could get. So basically they took over the Americans work and lots of people went with out a job.Urbanization took place when all of these immigrants starting to come. And the normal place that these people would go were apartments built for like two people and like six would have to fit inside it. This massive growth of population is also known as Urbanization.Students will understand the impact of the Progressive Era on the United States.The Progessive Era was a big political, social, and economical change from 1880 to 1920. Some of the things that were changed was that child labor was elimated in most of all states. Another thing was that women were able to get a higher education also were able to vote and go out and get better jobs not in factories. Also there was a Pure Food and Drug Act. Forcing companies to put labels and what was in their foods on the back of the can or whatever it was wrapped in. Mukrackers were journalist who would basically lie about the stuff in their paper in order for people to be somewhat intertained by what was writin in their things. Also prohibition took place. Which caused the use or selling of alcohol illegal to all people. Bootleggers also came into play when this happened. They were people who disagreed with the law so they made moonshine which was basically 100% proof alcohol. A lot of people benefited from this. Some made millions. Others who got caught were sentenced life in prison.Students will understand the causes for US involvement in World War I and the effects it had on the United States.One of the main causes of the World War I was Nationalism. This is basically pride in ones nation. Another main cause was the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand whom was the Serbian leader. Then we got thrown into the war basically because we were helping to supply some of the countries and aiding them when needed so then we basically just became part of the war for supplying.Students will understand the political, social and economic changes that occurred in the 1920’s in the United States.The Roaring 20’s or the Jazz age was known for RACISM. The locals whom were actually born in the states did not believe in colored people coming to the Americas. During this era, there was a group formed called the KKK, also known as the Klu Klux Klan. This group was to put the colored people in their place so they said. Also they would burn down objects such as crosses and whore obnoxious white outfits.Students will understand the causes and effects of the Great Depression.Things were really bad during the depression. Money was super scarce as to jobs and other stuff. The stock market crashed because everyone was living off of credit and when it came time to pay it no one could, Which caused businesses to close down because all the businesses couldn’t afford for nothing to be bought and such.
