The main political and economical systems in the world are anarchy, monarchy, direct democracy, and representative democray. Anarchy is when a state is in chaos ad there are no authorities or government. Absolute Monarchy is when one person, usually a king or queen, is the absolute ruler of a place and makes decisions for everyone. Constitutional monarchy is when the people have some say in the decisions they king and queen make but it is limited by the constitution. No one else really has a say in how the place is ran. Direct democracy is when the people have the power and representative democracy is when the people elect representatives to make decisions for them that the people vote on. Communism theory is a peaceful society where everyone is equal and the poor will rise up and everyone will be fair with money. The practice of communism is a government that controls everything. Whatever you make, they can take from you and share it equally with everyone. They claim that it will help a higher social order. Socialism is a government that owns and controls businesses. Capitalism is when a business is privately owned and operated by civilians. The main differences between Republicans and Democrats are that Republicans have more traditional views and they emphasize the importance of religion. Also, Republicans believe in the trickle down theory and the laissez faire which means that people should be allowed to do what they want.1. abortion: Democrats believe that abortion should be legal. They say women should have the rights to their own bodies. So they are for it. Republicans believe that you shouldn't have to make babies suffer for your choices. They are against it.2.flag burning: Some of the Democrats think that flag burning should be banned because its a powerful symbol, while others think that it affects freedom of expression or free speech. So they have mixed feelings on the topic. Republicans sat that they are very against it. They say it is disrespectful because the flag is a powerful symbol.3.gun control: Democrats think that we need to have more gun regulations and restrictions. This means that only certain people can have certain types of guns and must have certain reasons. The Republicans on the other hand think that its okay for people to have guns because of the 2nd amendment; the right to bear arms.4.environmental laws: Democrats are usually more enviromentally considerate compared to the Republicans. Democrats don't think that we should drill for oil in Alaksa. They are concerned that it will have negative impact on the environment. So they want to keep the environment very nice. The Republicans say that the world has been around so long that we really couldn't ruin it now.5.immigration: The Democrats think that we cannot continue to allow people enter the United States undetected, undocumented, and unchecked. They believe that we should secure our borders. The Republicans say the same thing6.-minimum wage: Democrats support what the minimum wage is or having the minimum wage be higher. The Republicans think that is causes more unemployment when its raised.7.health care: Democrats believe that everyone should be able to have affordable healthcare. Republicans agree and say that is isnt fair to make people pay more for it.8.taxes: The Democrats believe that the wealthy should have to pay higher taxes and the middle class should pay the same as always. Republicans think that everyone should pay the same price for taxes.9.US role in the world--Iraq: Democrats believe that the war in Iraq should come to a responsible end which means that the sooner we leave Iraq the more quickly Iraq will become stable. Republicans believe that we should stay in Iraq and Afghanistan until the war is won.10.Affirmative action law - Democrats supports it. It says that race or whatever else doesn't matter. They say that people shouldn't discrimate based on those things. Repulicans are also against it. They say that people shouldn't be told who they can and can't hire.11. Death penalty - Democrats are no longer supporting the death penalty. They switched to against it in 2005. They don't think any crime is bad enough for death. Republicans are for it and people should be put to death if the crime is bad enough.12.Gay Marriage - Democrats are for gay marriage. They think that if you love someone, they should have the right to marry them. Republicans like to take the more traditional path and think that it is wrong to marry the same sex.13.Military spending - Democrats are against military spending. They think that we are spending too much money on our military services and think we should cut back. Republicans think that we should keep spending money until the war is won.14.US Role in the World - Afghanistan - They believe we should be focusing more on Afghanistan instead of Iraq. They think we should send more troops to Afghanistan. They also believe that if we win the war in Afghanistan, the war will come to a complete end. The Republicans think we should just stay until we win.15.US Role in the United Nations - Democrats believe that we should have the United Nations to help solve the world's problems. Republicans agree. They just want to solve world problems.16. Prayer in School-Democrats are against it and Republicans are for it.The next topic is global warming. The causes of this are pollution from factories and people, carbon dioxide from trees, the burning of coal, transportation of vehicles, water vapor, gases and fossil fuels. All of these things are supposedly destroying the atmosphere causing more sun to be let it and global warming happening. Some effects of these things are disease from bugs that spread through the people, probability of droughts occuring goes up, melting of ice caps, and trees die because bugs migrate to warmer places and eat the trees. So overall, global warming has a very negative effect on our world.Another bad thing happening in our world, is overpopulation. There are many causes of overpopulation. Here are some of the main ones. One of the causes of this are declining death rates because there is better medicine out there that keep people alive longer. A second cause is increased birth rate. Again, there is more medicine out there that make people have better fertility and conception so less babies die. Another cause of overpopulation is migration. When a lot of people move to one place, that place runs low on resources so overpopulation occurs. The last reason is the lack of education. Kids in school aren't being taught how bad the effects of overpopulation is so a lot of babies are still being born. If more young people knew the effects of this, they wouldn't have so many babies. The effects are natural resources are being used faster than they can be replaced. biological diversity is destroyed, and the earth gets more polluted. Also there is a higher rate of unemployment because there is too many people and not enough jobs. Forests are being cut down to make room for the humans. The impact of globalization is huge! People in today's world can communicate with anyone in the world at any time through technology. Technology is taking over. This generation of people needs to be good with technology because we will be competing with people from other countries for jobs. They work cheaper, so if they are better with technology, they will get the job. Technology gives you access to basically any information, pictures, videos, etc. in the world. Globalization has a huge impact on our world.IraqA lot of people thought we went to Iraq in 2003 because of 9-11, but we didn't. We invaded them because Suddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction that were nuclear. We have been at war in the 1990's when we helped Kuwait from Iraqi control. We put certain restrictions on Iraq after that. They could not have troops in the northern part or southern part of the country to protect certain people. The UN, peace organization, would fly jets and fighter planes to make sure Iraq didn't cross the lines of where they couldn't have troops. There were weapon inspections also. This was to make sure they didn't have or weren't making any nuclear weapons. We got tired with Iraq, so the UN had the US invade Iraq. We had a lot of gains and took control of cities. We caught Hussein and was put to death by his own people. We never found weapons, so a lot of people think we need to get out of there. It is somewhat safer there, but not a ton. The different religous groups are so diverse, that it is hard to keep peace in between them. Troops are supposed to be coming out early this year and we hope to have troops out of the cities in the summer. By Jan 2012, all troops are supposed to be out of Iraq unless Iraqi government wants us to stay.Afgahnistan - It started from 9-11 which was when the Twin Towers and Pentagon were attacked. Al-Qeada, a world-wide terrorist organization, was behind the attack. Bin Laden is in charge of it and it is based out of Afghanistan. The government was a Taliban. They were very much against women. We invaded Afghanistan about a month after 9-11. There is not a lot of massive fighting now. We are still looking for Bin Laden, but Taliban is out of the picture now. The government is set up differently with the help of the US. We will be sending more troops there.IranThe government of Iran was making and giving nuclear weapons to Iraq to kill American troops. Iran is angry we are protcting Israel. Iran told us and signed a treaty we would stop, but we recently found weapons in Iraq that were obviously made by Iran. Now, Iran is building a 'secret' uranium facility. It is for producing more major weapons, but they claim it is for nuclear energy. Their nuclear program started in the 1950's. The United States and Europe helped them get it started. They wanted to create it, to help save oil. US Relations with Iran- There was a hostage crisis and they took 70 US citizens and kept them hostage for 474 days. Carter was the president and insisted on getting them back, this was the biggest crisis during his time. The US and Iran were once allies.Darfur- After an on-going conflict in Sudan ended, Darfur got scared that they would lose access to resources that they needed. Darfur also said that Sudan liked Arabs over non-Arabs. They started fighting. When the Sudans found about that they had been attacked by Darfur, they ordered the Janjaweed and the Sudanese military to attack the Africans. They tortured them by rape, cutting off limps, ethnic cleansing, bombing civilian targets, murdering, starving, and smashing their faces. It was very brutal. Presidnt Bashir gave the land to the Janjaweed because they were Arabs and he didn't want non-Arabs to have the land. Over 400,000 were killed and about 2.5 million were displaced.Rwanda- Hutus were killing Tutsis and moderate Hutus because the Tutsis were in power which angered the Hutus. The Hutu's president was assassinated. Rwanda's militia had about 30,000. Everyone that lived there was given ID cards that had their ethnicity on them. The Hutus were trying to wipe out the Tutsis children so that there wouldn't be a next generation of them. They killed them in brutal ways. One way was with machetees. The militia set up road blocks so that no one could get out of the place. 500,000-1,000,000 people were killed. That means that 20% of their population was killed in 100 days.Somalia- There is a lot of killing going on there. They are in anarchy, have no authority. It is very hard for the parents to support a family there. A lot of people fish for a living and when they are sick of fish, they trade it for other stuff. Somalia is the number one failed state in the world. There are 5 clans there that decided to unite. You won't find hotels, restaraunts, or anything else nice there. They don't get any help from there government. It is a very violent place.
