stock prices were way overvalued, watered down stock, over speculation during the 1920's (led to watered stock), buying on margin, over production of goods ( companies weren't making money, stock prices skyrocketed) uneven distribution of wealth, too much borrowing from banks- put people into debt- banks were not smart in who they gave money to, Federal reserve increasing interest rates- failed during this period of time- had low interest rates- they knew that the country was in trouble because of the stock market- increase in interest rates lead to the crash, lack of government regulation- very few rules/laws- lot of watered stock

New Deal programs start-makes the US government much larger, Deficit spending starts, The new deal creates many organizations that are still around today-social security, welfare, Fascist military and communist dictators come to power throughout the world

US became a world superpower, Eastern Europe became communist, Major Events:, Blitzkrieg, Pearl Harbour attack, US stopped trading oil with japan, Atomic bombs, Split up of Germany, East and West, US did not go back to isolationism, Homefront, Women started working, Propaganda for the war, Victory gardens, War bonds, People donate money for the war, they get it back after the war, D-Day, US allies attacked the beaches of Normandy, Atomic Bombs dropping

America produced so much war goods, Women started working and took over jobs from men, US had strong Allies, we had more allies than Germany, Atomic bombs, Good strategies: Island hopping, first take over the weaker parts of Germany, Ultra and Magic; German and Japanese code, Hitler's mistakes, He wanted to take over Russia, by taking over the 3 major cities, Wasn't prepared for the cold

Causes: End of WW2, Berlin Blockade, Stalin blocks trade from US to west Germany, Communism and Democracy
Effect:USSR fell apart, Small countries were created, Economy, US was major world power, Peace throughout US, War was over, Didn’t have to worry
Goals:Stop the spread of communism
Events: Berlin Blockade airlift, Red Scare, US was scared of becoming communism, Cuban Missile Crisis, Cuba had missiles, US wanted them gone, because of first range, Both agreed not to attack, We removed our missiles from Turkey within 6 month, then they removed theirs

Causes: North invaded the south, Korea was split in two
Effects: Back and forth war, North invades south, South invades back, China helps North, Ceasefire is signed, Country is still split, Many lives lost, US have still a lot of groups there
Major Events: Election, it was meant to unify the country, Stalin didn’t allow the election and gave power to somebody, South elected a nationalist, North Korea invaded, first did a good job, we helped South korea with a D-Day like invasion, United Nations Police Action, United Nations Security Council voted to send troops to help south Korea, A treaty between North and South Korea was never signed

Cause: Containment
Major Events:Gulf of Tonkin, An American ship was attacked by north Vietnamese torpedoes, Congress giving permission to president to wage war, Tet offensive, Huge offense on US, Vietcong attacked cities, Pentagon Papers, Showed US people that the government was lying about Vietnam War, Vietnamization, Escalation and Deescalation
Effects: War powers act, Limited how long president could send troops overseas, Watergate, troops came back as baby killers not as heros
