For this weeks blog we watched the movie saving private ryan. It started with D-day when the Americans invaded Omaha beach. Once the doors opened on their weird boat things a ton of people were shot and some jumped of the boat and into the water and they drowned because they couldn’t get all their heavy equipment off so they couldn’t get to the surface of the water. The Americans lose a lot of people but they eventually get the beach taken over.
Then it showed the office where all the people were typing the letters to the families of the people who died. They noticed that there were three letters with kids with the same last names and they realized they were brothers and they had all died. They knew their mother would get all three in one day and they knew that there was one more brother that could possibly still be living. So they decided to sent people to find the last brother and bring him home so his mother had at least one brother left. Than the miller guy sent somebody who could speak French and German to fight in a place where there were a lot of germans. There were eight guys that were sent on the mission to save private ryan. It showed one part where they found a James Ryan and they told him about his brothers that had died but then it ended up being the wrong ryan and this ryan’s brothers were still in grammar school.
The next place they went was to this camp where plains had crashed because there were heavy metal plates put in the bottom to protect the general from below and the pilot didn’t know about them so he couldn’t keep it in the air and they crashed down. They were going through dog tags here trying to see if maybe ryan’s name was in them. They got chewed out because of how they were treating them like they didn’t even symbolize anything. Then they found a half deaf guy that knew of private ryan.
They finally found the private ryan that they had been looking for and he would not leave his post at the bridge that him and his group were holding up. So the group that had been looking for him decided to stay and help them fight of the germans trying to take over the bridge. They made sticky bombs to stick on the tracks of the tanks to knock them off. When they saw them coming the sniper in the tower signaled that there wer two panther tanks, two tiger tanks, and 50 infantry. The battle here at this town went on for quite a while. At the end of the battle a lot more Americans came in airplanes and tanks and they helped them hold back these germans and win the battle. Private Ryan ended up getting home and it was a happy endingJ At the beginning and end of the movie it showed private Ryan as an old man looking at millers gravestone with his family in the cemetery.
I thought this was a really good movie. It showed some of how bad D-day was how the water was blood red and there were bodies all over the place. I thought the coolest part was when they all worked together in the last battle to beat the Germans and private Ryan survived the whole thing. Or after they survived the bunker attack at the radar station they let the one guy they didn’t kill go without killing him. They were good people.
