Rwanda

Okay, instead of just starting with the uber crazy genocide thing, I am starting with where it all started. (every time you assign a blog topic, i just have to do something different;)Okay, so first we have a group of people called the Twa, a Pygmy people. BTW- A "Pygmy" is a group of people who are naturally short. Like, below average. The Hutu and the Tutsi came from the Twa, they are considered to be two separate ethnic groups simply by occupation. Not ethnic, both speak the same language, have a history of intermarriage, and share a lot of cultural characteristics. By "occupational" I mean the Hutu were the farmers the Tutsi were basically ranchers. They had cattle and what not. Apparently they claim that the Hutu were short and square while the Tutsi were tall and thin. However, it is impossible to tell one from the other, so in 1933 it was a requirement to have an identity card telling if you were Tutsi or Hutu.Basically, its like a religion worshiping crops, and you have one group worshiping corn while the other is all soybean. (soyjoy)! Now, people shouldn't be like that, but now imagine that these two groups started arguing about what's better. Moving on...Because of their "ethnic" differences, it lead to a civil war sending the cowboys, Tutsi, into exile. After that, when Rwanda became an independent nation July 1, 1962, it was under the Hutu's rule. Obviously, the cowboys weren't to happy so in 1990, the Rwandan Patriotic Front, (RPF), which was made up of the exiled Tutsi rebels, tried to overthrow the Rwandan government.August 1933, peace treaties or accords if you will, were signed and all was swell... until April 1994..Due to a plane "downing," it was probably just a plane ACCIDENT, or PLAIN accident. Yeah, punny, anyway it killed the presidents of Rwanda and Burundi,(i don't know why that's significant but...) and then deeply rooted ethnic violence detonated.

Alrighty, so theeeen, the late president's guard started exterminating Tutsi opposition leaders and not long after, their police men, who are, may I remind you, supposed to protect them, started butchering, rubbing out, lynching, knifing, dispatching, annihilating, what have you, the entire Tutsi population. After that, Hutu vigilantes that went around killing their Tutsi neighbors. And if that's not enough, they have evidence that this SHH, Spontaneous Human Hatred, was fastidiously orchestrated by the Hutu government.

Res ipsa loquitur, the RPF struck back with a 14-week sweep/civil war across the country. Despite the desperate cries for help, not one country came to help the Tutsi. The UN was stationed IN RWANDA at the time of the killing and they withdrew completely when 10 of their soldiers were killed. They lost 10 soldiers, they valued the lives of their soldiers, who signed up to fight for the sake of people around the world who needed them, over the lives of 500,000 people. How many of them that died were children? Those egotistical cowards ran away. It's a cock and bull story.

Tutsi took over the Hutu government with the strength of their backs alone, and to prevent the threat of another civil war they put a Hutu man as president. Instead of wreaking their righteous revenge on the Hutu, they said basically said that they didn't want the same to happen to the Hutu. That takes courage, those UN morons would do good to learn from them. And you know how the Hutu repaid them, they started guerilla warfare in refugee camps and tried once again to try to kill off the Tutsi. Finally, in May 2003, 93% of Rwandans put their differences aside and voted to approve a new constitution that would create a balance of political power between Hutu and Tutsi. Which is more than what the Hutu deserves... I hope they're grateful.
