The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of African-American fighter pilots who were trained despite the racism going on in the U.S. during World War II. They were deployed in action and were vary famous, and also awarderd with many acheivments. which included engaging and shooting down Messerschmitt Me 262s, the first jet fighters. So successful were they at escorting American bombers that the white pilots asked for them. The story of the Tuskegee Airmen has been told many times, latley in a 1995 HBO movie that Told quit a bit about the leaders and really showed a lot about the training going on. George Lucus has personally financed a large mainstream action movie about the Tuskegee Airmen, hoping of reaching a larger audience. He has "Red Tails," directed by anothony, in creating for 23 years, and credit is due for his perseverance in going to long with the movie. The big thing here is on "action," and this is not so much a social or historical movie as a war one. A lot of the movie is devoted to dogfights, with POV shots of the chase of enemy fighters. The scene comes down to many closeups of pilots in flight masks, yelling quick commands. The crazy scenes on the ground in Europe don't have much substance, although there are good scenes showing good fighting at the top of the chain of command.
