Responses of Great DepressionHerbert Hoover was blamed a lot. At the beginning of his presidency, there were no longer be poverty (everyone will have two cars and a chicken in every pot). He was optimistic at first. He believed in limited government, and didn't believe in handouts to people. Hoovervilles-slap in face to Hoover. Hoover flags-people walked around with pockets out of pants showing they had no money.-Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC)- gave money to state local gov't to give to projects that would help the gov't and some ended up as handouts.Bonus Army- WWI veterans who went to Washington D.C. to get their bonus early-congress decided to not give it to them-- some stayed behind-Hoover got the military to come and force them out
