The roaring 20's entertainment- talked about a couple people like Betsy smith
flappers- bobbed hair, heavy makeup,short skirts, sheer silk stockings,cigarettes,alcohol,dancing.
Flappers were middle class, single,young women who turned into these characters at night like at jazz clubs or vaudeville shows and were carefree and liberated.
bobbed hair was just a straight haircut.
fashion- Chanel was very popular and some fads were cloche hats, complex jewelry, sky high heels and floral prints and also what they called the "boyish look".They also started wearing more pastel colors.
Dancing- fox trot was pretty common,the Charleston became popular after a musical which was later on used in clubs, Texas Tommy,wall street crash they didn't really have any dancing it all kinda died down and then jazz era ended. we watched dance montage from 20's.
jazz- was most popular choice some influencers were Louis Armstrong,duke Ellington and some big house bands were just all different musicians together to form a jazzy sound.
bessi smith was big part of the swing era her music was soulful and powerful
Josephine baker was known as earlier version of Marilyn Monroe also for her banana dress,she also was exotic dancer could says he was a sex symbol to society.
sports- 2 most popular ones were boxing and baseball two icons were babe Ruth with a very impressive records and then for boxing jack Dempsey who known for a very fast combo he chewed pine gum to make a stronger jaw and brim soaked his face. not such a known sport was also hockey which didn't really get rel big.
pro football was introduced in august 20th,1920 was also called APFA the later changed to NFL also Jim Thorpe 1st president of the league.
pro basketball- ABL was created in 1925 not many went was pretty pricey to go to one of the first teams were called new York Celtics.
Broadway- 1 of the biggest industries a lot of gamblers,gangsters then celebrities like babe Ruth were into the gambling spectrum pretty typical "hangout".
a common gangster was named Owen madden who nickname was the "killer" and then there was newspaper man who started a lot of gossip.
Hollywood- warens theater was big place 2 people who starred there were charlie Chaplin and Gloria storken
silent movies with just music had huckleberry Finn to hump-back of noterdame. a couple others were show boat and steam boat Willie with kinda like a Disney production.
the street strike of 1919- September 21st, 1919 to January 8th, 1920 went on strike because of working conditions they were under like long hours, low wages, poor environment. about 350,000 workers actually walked out people blamed the immigrants for this.
