Post-War Japan

Japan had been devastated by the war, nearly every city except Kyoto, had been destroyed, Japan's Industry had ground to a halt since this, and to add to the miserys in Japan, a food shortage appeared after the war for several years. When Allied Forces oocupied Japan, that was the first time a foreign power had control. of which the occupation ended in 1952. origanly, the Allys wanted to divide Japan like Germany, but ended not. during the occupation, People could not raise the Rising sun flag (Hinomaru )

All of Japan's territory that they had aquired was taken from them, the Ryuku islands aswell as Okinawa had been taken away. and a new constitution was enstated in 1947, which stripped the Emperor of all his powers, Although the Emperor was not convicted as a war criminal. the Constitution also banned Japan from having an army.
