The Persian Gulf War occured from August 2nd, 1990 to February 28th, 1991. It's commonly referred to as the Gulf War. The general area were the war occured was in, Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The war was to expel Iraqi forces from the Kuwait area because they had invaded Kuwait and the allies wanted them to leave and so they did.
Iraq was the main enemy in this war obviously, Saddam Hussein whom was hung a few years back for war crimes was the leader of Iraq at the time. The war began the day which Saddam Hussien's forces invaded Kuwait which was August 2nd, 1990. Upon war annexation of all Iraqi goods had taken place which caused a vast blow to the economic status of the country of Iraq.
It was reported by the CIA that the Iraqi's had moved 30,000 troops over to Kuwait. The US won this war as they usually do.
I think this war ruined the econmic status of Iraq and literally crippled them as a power to be reconed with in the modern world. It was a dumb idea on Saddam Husseins part to invade Kuwait as they are just a bunch of poor Kurds.
Saddam Hussein in my eyes was generally a very evil man who desserved to have been killed by hanging as he was several years ago. I also believe that the country of Iraq owes something to Kuwait.
