The Attack of Pearl Harbor started as on the morning of December 7,1941, Japanese's Navy bombed Pearl Harbor in O'ahu, Hawaii from airplanes. This is why the United States entered WWII. Unfortunately, around 2,400 Americans were killed from this attack. And that's only from the American Military. (bombs landed on our planes as well as sunk our ships).
In a way, we were warned about the attack. We had heard over a radio message that the Japenese could possible attack, the downside was, we had no idea when or even where. Around the time of 3:50 AM, the people of Hawaii got their surprise wakeup call they all dreaded.
I think thats its really unfair that Japan had very light losses during this attack. They only had 29 aircraft and five midget submarines lost, as well as the 65 killed or wounded and the one Japenese sailor that was captured. Where as we lost plenty.
Technically, we started the war. This is because Japan had not signed any papers stateing that they declared war on America. We then declared war on Japen due to the attack of Pearl Harbor. Domestic support of isolationism (A national policy of abstaining from political or economic relations with other countries) completely dissappeared.
I personally believe that this was a sad and unfortunate day for not only Hawaii, but of course America. It proved we were not ready for a surprise attack and that we could have been a little more repared, cnosidereing what was already taking place in the war. I also think that it shows we were a bit weaker then, because now we get along with most counrties.
