Pearl Harbor

"Yesterday, December 7, 1994, a date which will live in infamy." Was how president Franklin D Rosevelt started off his speech on December 8th refering to the attack on Pearl Harbor.

This event happened becouse The Empire of Japan thought that for them to invade areas like Southeast Asia and the Phillipenes that they would have to take care of the United States navy. This is when they decided to bomb Pearl Harbor.

This event took place in the form of two strikes. The first strike targeted battleships and Aircract Carriers and came in groups of three. The first group had 90 bombers in eight different sections, 54 dive bombers, and the last one had 45 fighters.

The second wave also had three groups and focused on the same things and other important ships as well as the sorounding islands. After launching everyone they had killed 2,386 Americans and 1,139 were wounded in this 90 minute period.

There was a possible third wave that would take out the fuel and ammo along with the docks.

I think that the whole reasoning behind japans thinkign was stupid. If they wanted to keep us out of the war they should of let us alone and not angered the people. They did pull this off very well though and i believe if they would of let the thirs strike happen we would of been out for a long time. This was a very tragic day in our history.
