Pearl Harbor

On December 7, 1941 that japanese navy launched a surpise attack consisting of 353 aircrafts and six aircraft carriers on the us naval base Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The japanese attacked to prevent the U.S. navy from influencing the japans war on southeast asia. The japanese had planned the attack to keep the U.S. out of the war but in doing so they ended up catipluting the U.S. into the war.

The attack sunk four U.S. battleships, damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, a training ship, a minelayer, destroyed over 180 airplanes, and killed or wounded over 3,600 men. Even with all the damage the japanese did not attack the base’s power staion, shipyard, aircraft carriers, maitenance, fuel facility, or the torpedo stoage area, wich I think was a bad Idea by anyone trying to stop someone from entering a war. The japanese got off easy in loses because they only lost 29 planes and five of their “midget” submarines only 65 dead or wounded, with one sailor being captured.
