Today in CWI we had a discussion about our assigned blog from about 2 weeks ago. We each got assigned different topics and had to write a blog about it. Nichole and Erin went first with the topic of the United Nations, which is a peace organization that was founded in 1946. A General Assembly is a part of the United Nations its when all nations are represented equally, and they come and talk about issues. The United Nations is very powerful and can help protect other countries. The Security Council is the most powerful part of the United Nations. They can send troops to places and wage war. They maintain peace with countries. There are five permanent members: United states, united kingdom. Russia, china, and France.Jena and Max talked about the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei. He is a politician in Iran. Khamenei has been the leader since 1989. He gets to make the final decisions on what goes on in Iran. Khamenei has a big role in the country. He was Iran's interim president and he had to speak when their last president was assassinated.Next topic was Muhammad Ahmadinejad Courtney, Lauren, Luke and I all had this topic. He was re-elected this summer. He is currently the 6th president of Iran. He is the fourth of seven childeren. He went to college to be an engineer but it didnt work out to well. He then went into teaching. Amadinejad is now married and has a daughter and two sons. Im not going to lie, his beliefs are kinda odd?. He says the Holocaust never occured. He also believes in this god named Mahdi and writes wishes on paper and throws them in a well because he believes that is where Mahdi is.
