Chapter 8.4American leisure- people began seeing more beautification in the 19th century, they had this enjoyment to get away from all the congestionCity Parks and Amusement Parks- these were ment for citezens to be happy, and to get away.Coney Island- in brooklyn ny, became theme park, lots of prostitutution, andf gambeling. it soon lost popularity after www2.Bicycling- in 1885 safety bikes were made, the common bike we see today.Coca Cola- was created in 1885, the coca leaf was used in it. was actualy an alcohol.made non alcoholic and sold in pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia.Boxing also became popular, and was a spectator sport.Radios became a common thing in the 1920's.Baseball also became popular, and cities made city leauges to compete. these soon later turned into professional baseball teams.New ways to sell goods- department stores started to become popular, chain stores also spung up.New Literature- Mark Twain, Huckelbarry Finn started to become very popular.
