Today in CWI we once again went over the Europe map. Cheyenna told us about the story she did. It was about how Obama has been talking about International agreements. Reducing nuclear programs was a topic they talked about. She also talked a little bit about a failed state since she has been gone. Mr. Bruns told us the oral test will be on Friday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. All the topics that will be on the test are on the CWI web page.Mr. Bruns then showed us his PowerPoint. The Donkey is the Democrat symbol and the elephant is the Republican symbol. Not all democrats and republicans agree on all issues within their party. Media bias (fox news vs CNN are considered liberal). Where you live can effect what party you belong to. If you live in a small town you are more likely to be Republican. Young people are more democratic.Republicans are conservative. They favor lower taxes and believe in the trickle-down theory. They believe in the laissez-faire system which is when you can do what you want and the government doesnt get involved. Republicans' favor a limited role for the government in society and believe that people should help themselves, not rely on the government. They also believe in rugged individualism.Democrats are liberal. They favor change in society and they are willing to increase taxes to support programs. Democrats favor in an active role for government in society. They support regulations on economic activity and businesses. They also believe that involvement, be it environmental regulations against polluting or anti-discrimination laws, can improve the quality of our lives.
