Went over our video worksheets. Things that helped the industrial revolution take off in the US included lots of Natural Resources that gave buisnessmen something to make a profit out of, Government helped Buisness (Laissez-Faire), Cities were growing due to immigrants coming for work, Growing Population Provided Markets For Manufactured Goods, Imigrants provided cheap labor for work, Oil Boom helped run the county. Henry Bessemer created a way to make steel cheaper and quicker (steel built the counrty). Various inventions helped improve the way people lived their eyes.  Railroads helped transport everything that the people and factories needed. Captains of Industry helped build the country. Monopolies were big companies that took out smaller compannies so there would be no competition and have as much control of the industry as posible. Monopolies drive up prices because once all competition is gone to a major company, they dont have to worry about people buying other products because they are cheaper because there are no other companies to sell a product for less. It also gives consumers less of a choice.

Laissez-Faire means that the government would stay out of buisnesses as long as they just kept busy and allowed them to make their own chices as they see fit.
