Over all I thought it was a really encouraging speech. I believe African American students will try even harder because they now have a black president to look up to. I'm sure people will dissagree with a lot of Obama said during his speech and thinks what he says is totally worthless, but I don't. Thats exactly what the United States needs, we need encouragement from every where we are, from the president to the guy working at the gas station down town.
<The only thing I really had an issue about was the no excuses part. Obviously you have to give some people slack. Like are you saying if someones parent died, your expecting the student to have all their homework done and be at school the next day? Or, what if a student just has a really, really troubled life at home. I would expect some effort but you have to except some things, not everything is an excuse.
