Obama's new Nuclear Policy

On April 6th President Barack Obama released his new nuclear policy strategy. This new policy is called the Nuclear Posture Review. Obama has described this new policy as a step to making nuclear weapons obsolete. He also plans to cut the U.S nuclear arsenal and freeze development of new nuclear weapons. This policy will open with an intensive 9 days of nuclear diplomacy geared towards reducing weapons.

The United States’ government is going to refrain from nuclear attacks on the countries in compliance with the nuclear non-Proliferation Treaty. This new policy also applies some strict conditions on when the U.S can use nuclear weapons. This policy also states that even if other countries attack the United States with nonconventional arms or biological/chemical weapons we cannot respond with nuclear weapons.

I am against this new nuclear policy. I believe that this new policy is unwise because taking away the use of nuclear weapons makes the United States less of a threat. This also makes the U.S more of a target because they can’t respond with nuclear weapons. They have to use other types of weapons instead which are less effective.
