The current health care system in the United States works somewhat like this. Americans pay an insurance company through their employer with an out-of-pocket monthly premium for a limited number of services. Older people can recieve Medicare, which is gov't funded. For those in poverty, there is the gov't funded Medicaid.Obama's plan is to give full health care coverage to every U.S. citizen for basically no cost. It's a very simple plan, and everyone benefits from it in some way.President Obama believes that his health care plan will help fix the economy. Medical debt is one of the leading causes of personal bankruptcy in the United States, and that weakens the whole economy. Some people are against the plan because it will raise taxes. Some people have perfectly fine insurance now, and don't want a new system. Barrack's new system might also make people go to a certain doctor/hospital. His plan also moves America closer to socialism.
