I totally agree in what President Barrack Obama said in his address to students. I think an opportunity as great as an education in a privlage that definately should not be taken for granted. We are very lucky to be provided with great teachers that strive to help us learn, because the future definately does dcepend on the students today. One teenager in high school right now will eventually be the future President of the United States years from now.It is our responsibility to take advantage of the education being handed to us. If you have to spend everyday in school you might as well learn something while you are there. You can't expect to be a doctor or lawyer without basic knowledge.Nobody likes waking up early every Monday-Friday just to go sit in the classroom all day. Nobody likes sitting through lectures about photosynthesis or the works of Shakespeare, but we all have to do it. When Barrack was just a little Obama he had to wake up early everyday because his mother could not afford to get a proper American education outside of America for him. He was forced to wake up at four in the morning everyday just to be taught things he would not learn at school later that day. I'm guessing his mom did not know at the time that her son would be a future President, and she most likely taught him a lot of things he knows about our country.I went into further information and looked into schoolwide opinions across the nation on Obama's address. A lot of schools had negative comments. They did not want to show the address during school or take students out of class to go see it live. At Antioch Community High School District 117, officials had received a half-dozen calls. Half said they thought "it was an inappropriate venue for the president to speak, and the others said they had no problem with it.""When things like this have happened, we will tape it and then give a link to the video in case people want to see it at their convenience, but we are not taking kids out of school to see it during their class time or lunch," Supt. Jay Sabatino said.I'm really not a fan of Barrack Obama, I guess I've gotten used to him... but there is a lot of room for improvement. I have to admit though that I agree with him on this address. Students shouldn't slack off in school, because honestly if they do, it is just a big waste of their time, and their teacher's time.
